Volkswagen renews its model-headlight, which firmly occupies the head of the sales on the European market. If the evolutions of this new Golf 8 remain light from a stylistic point of view, the car strongly impresses by its technological contents.
Empêtré in the interminable legal and financial continuations of the dieselgate, Volkswagen seemed condemned to more have to speak to us only about electric motors, as for expier its fished. Thus, it is especially of the ID.3 that it will have been question these last months, while the genuine relays of growth of the range of the manufacturer passed a little in the second plan.
Only here, there is still a world between the “buzz” generated by the electric one and what is translated into real intentions of purchase. Today, in spite of a notable progression since the beginning of the year, the electric cars account for hardly 3% of the sales of the European market.


The German manufacturer A included/understood well, which looks after its principal relays of growth and the eighth generation of the Golf presents to us today, models past with more than 35 million specimens throughout the world since 1974. Let us detail-there together.
Side style. The Volkswagen productions remain marked by a certain conservatism as regards design, and evolve/move generally only by light keys from one generation to another. Golf 8 does not derogate from this tradition, and would have of as much less reason to do it than Golf 7 is a success: in 2018, it was about the car most sold on the Old continent.


 On board. Contrary to the body, the cockpit of Golf 8 evolves/moves in-depth. Thus, the analogical meters disappear with the profit of a numerical instrumentation (screen 10,25 inches) facing the driver, which is seen supplemented by a joint touch screen of 10 inches (or 8,25 inches on the version of entry of range) which makes it possible to control what milked with the functions of comfort and entertainment.


 A vocal order, that it is advisable to activate by one “Hello Volkswagen”, supplements the device (and can itself be accompanied in option by an access to the services by Amazon via famous Alexa). The central console does not comprise any button except for those of warning, starting and hand brake. The other orders are digitalized (one finds however buttons “with old” on the wheel).
Hyperconnectée. Thanks to the system “We Connect” integrated, new the Golf gives access to you many functionalities of comfort and safety (streaming, numerical radio and various services on line). In addition, your personal adjustments can be recorded in a “cloud” and be recovered when you pass from a VW Golf 8 to another (what does not have anything essential, but allows to place the higher cursor as regards embarked technologies).
To also retain, the possibility of opening the car thanks to its only smartphone (if this one is of Samsung mark), by approaching this one of the door simply, then to start the engine by posing it on the central console. Moreover, one can send a “mobile key” to close relations who will be able in their turn to use their telephone like a key. In addition, the functions type Apple Bus Play or Android Auto are activated without telegraphic connection between the telephone and the vehicle.
Very equipped. Another strong point of the news Volkswagen Golf 8 is its equipment of series. As of the version of entry of range are provided automatic air-conditioning, multifunction wheel or access/starting free hands. Side safety, are added system of lane assist (assistance with the maintenance in the way) and face assist (perimetric monitoring with emergency braking, detection of the pedestrians and the cyclists, and assistance of steering).


 Golf 8 will be also equipped with office and it is a first in Europe - of a communication system “Car2X”, which allows the vehicles and the infrastructures (when they are connected) to communicate and to be sent messages relating to safety with a maximum range of 800 meters. You will object to us that that will not be used for large-thing initially. But imagine that this equipment has to spread at any speed in the ranges of the group VW and other great automobile groups, and you seize the interest immediately of it.

The footing of 2,64 m allows a correct habitability the back.
The bench postpones is folded back only in two parts, but a trap door with skis is found.
With Golf 8, it will be also possible to update certain functionalities, and “to even free” certain equipment with the wire of the life of the vehicle. It goes from there thus from the GPS, the vocal order, the automatic regulator of distance, the dynamic main-beam headlamps or the detection of the road panels.

Not less than five mixed motorizations gasoline-electricity appear in the program, with powers spreading out from 110 to 150 CH for the “mild hybrid” and 204/245 CH for the refillable hybrids
Hybrid. Under the cap, new Golf 8 large setting on the hybrid motorizations. Thus, a few 5 blocks gasoline-electricity are envisaged initially. The main part of the sales will be thus ensured by three blocks with light hybridization 48V developing respectively 110 (block 3 cylinders 1.0), 130 and 150 CH (block 4 cylinders 1.5), all coupled with a box car DSG with 7 reports/ratios. Teams of a alterno-starter and a battery 48V, those have functionalities such as coils free, temporary recuperation of energy and surcouple during accelerations. These engines should consume 10% less than the purely thermal TSI of equivalent power.
Refillable hybrid blocks of 204 and 245 CH (Golf GTE) will act as top-of-the-range, and it will be retained that they obtain a new battery of 13 kWh. Volkswagen remains however still dumb on the autonomy of these models in mode “zero emission” (this one will be higher than 50 km, in any event). Two motorizations TSI of 90 and 110 CH supplement the gasoline range, and two 2.0 TDI of 115 and 150 CH will try to attract each other the favours of the large wheelers.
Versions GTD and R are also envisaged, just as the impossible to circumvent GTI  which one knows nothing the specifications yet. When your servant asked a representative of VW which would be the level of power of the latter, the answer was rather concise: “I can nothing say yet to you, if it is not that the Golf 8 GTI will be less powerful than the preceding one! » 
Golf 8 will make its entry in the concessions at the beginning of the year 2020. We give you appointment at the beginning of December for the first tests. The tariffs of the range will be made public by then.
