Audi RS7 Sportback (2020): 600 hp
This is the second generation of the Audi RS7 Sportback which is making its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019. The five-door Vitamin-rich Cup finally shows its muscles. Discovery of the rival of the future BMW M8 Gran Coupé and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door 63S.
Audi has a sense of direction. When we first discovered the new Audi RS7 Sportback this summer, it was hiding under an aerial structure of pristine white canvas. A light and floating fabric that contrasts perfectly with the intense dress of the beast.
The rival of the future BMW M8 Gran Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door 63S does not leave indifferent. Audi's five-door coupe is showing its muscles with its 4 cm widened tracks and its 21-inch tire-coated wheels in 275/35 (22 inches in options, with tires of 285/30). The front shield sports a manly design, it is reminiscent of the new Audi RS6 before, and for good reason, the two cars make common muzzle.
The rockers are adorned with an insert that visually alleviates the whole. At the rear, the shield incorporates the two oval tailpipes specific to the RS range, which can be lacquered black or chrome, like the four rings. A carbon pack also brings a touch of exclusivity. At the end of the tailgate, the mobile wing leaves at 120 km / h.
Under the bonnet, the V8 4.0 biturbo engine delivers 600 horsepower for a torque value of 800 Nm, and is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. The accelerations are bright with a 0 to 100 km / h shipped in 3.6 s. The top speed is à la carte: 250 km / h original, it can be increased to 280 km / h, optional with the dynamic pack.
But if you have the soul of a recordman - obviously across the Rhine - it is possible, by subscribing the dynamic pack over to reach 305 km / h. At this pace, ceramic carbon brakes will be appreciated to stop the machine. With a diameter of 440 mm, the front discs have 10 pistons and at the back their size is 370 mm.
To gain agility and maneuverability, this ballerina weighs 2,065 kg (130 kg more than the previous generation) can count on its four-wheel steering. Audi says this equipment reduces the turning circle by one meter. Four-wheel steering is also a driving force with the quattro all-wheel drive offering a 40% front axle and 60% rear wheel drive torque distribution. But depending on the circumstances, the rear axle can take up to 80% of the torque. The temperament of the car is thus very typical propulsion.
The cabin now leaves the choice between a four-seat configuration, already proposed on the current RS7 Sportback and another five-seater, which takes the seat of the Audi A6 before. The digital instrumentation, virtual cockpit has two specific modes: RS1 and RS2 that is simply operated by a button on the steering wheel.
The Audi RS7 Sportback is currently taking its first crowd at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019, alongside the Audi RS6 front. It will be marketed in the spring of 2020.
For the record, the current RS7 was entitled, in autumn 2015, an Audi RS7 Sportback Performance version increasing the power from 560 to 605 hp. The new version should benefit during the career. Under his hood, the candidate is all found: the V8 4.0 biturbo engine Lamborghini Urus delivering 650 hp.
